King Kong at Yosemite’s Half-dome [1936] print / poster –multiple sizes–
Background of this amazing image: What many people don't know, believing what they saw in the one movie that Kong starred in, is that the US government actually cut a deal with Kong, and put him the Federal Witness Protection Program. The ape we saw fall, apparently shot up by the biplanes, from the Empire State Building in 1933, was actually a stuffed dummy. The real Kong was hiding inside the building, and once the police had cleared the streets, he was secreted to a train and transported to the great western wilderness of Yosemite and around. For a handful of years, on occasion, as is documented in this photochrome, he would be seen by a tourist or two, typically very briefly and in most instances, he would disappear before the startled visitor could get their cameras set up for a shot. In any case, in our investigation of this rare phenomenon, we could not find evidence of any sightings later than 1939, so we have to assume that either Kong passed quietly or he became frustrated with the increasing number of visitors to Yosemite and retreated to spend the remainder of his days pining for the peaks of Skull Island in quieter environs. This one-of-a-kind Kong print will look great in your living space and make for scintillating conversation! Custom printed when you place your order; sorry, no returns or exchanges accepted on custom prints. 8 x 10" ships in a stiff flat, larger sizes in a sturdy kraft tube.

UFO poster “Washington Square Arch” Greenwich Village Alternate history New York City
What few people remember is that in the early spring and into the summer of 1905, there were recurring UFO sightings in and around Washington Park. By the fall of that year, there are no further documented sightings recorded. Currier & Ives “New York and the Great East River Serpent of 1872” print
What many people have forgotten - and this print is pretty much the only remaining proof - is that New York and Brooklyn were plagued with water serpents in the late 1860s and into the '70s, with one of the largest and most problematic being the one that took residence around Governor's Island in 1872. No one knew for certain, but it was thought that the significant whaling trade of the 1850's affected the sea serpent's food supply, forcing them to come into the harbor and rivers of New York in search of food. As the whaling industry declined in America, sightings of the sea/river serpents diminished until what had been a daily occurence became shrouded in memory of just a few old timers. The last documented "river snake" sighting in Manhattan was during the heat wave of 1924, on August 23. This print will look great in your living space and make for great conversation! Available in 2 sizes: 13 x 19" 17 x 22" Ships carefully packed in a sturdy kraft tube.
