Tom Swift and His Sky Racer Vintage hardcover in original dust jacket [1926] First edition, later printing Children’s series book #9
$134.00
This is a “very good” or better vintage hardcover in pictorial cloth wrapped boards with black-and-white illustrated glossy frontispiece published by Grosset & Dunlap in 1926.
First edition format, later printing (originally introduced in 1911 in the same presentation).
Solid binding, no writing or marks aside from a “9” carefully affixed to the front free end paper. No torn, folded or loose pages. Board corners are lightly bumped, with minimal wear to cloth. Pictorial decorations on the cloth on front board and spine are bright, yellow/tan color uniform all around – not sunned on spine.
Matching dust wrapper shows “Tom Swift and His Airline Express” as the last title in the list inside the front flap. Some minimal edge wear with some chipping at the flap fold corners and spine head and tail. Some tanning to the spine. Front cover illustration bright and vibrant. Now protected in a removable archival sleeve for proper presentation.
A really pleasing vintage copy with its original cover, which are getting more scarce each passing year.

Hardy Boys #1 “The Tower Treasure” [1946] {{This is the 1946a-28 printing as per Carpentieri & Mular}} 6th signature (p. 155-186) is wrong
Identified by points as the "1946a-28" printing as per Carpentieri & Mular's guide to identifying printings of the Hardy Boys books. The sixth signature of the book has been mistakenly bound with the sixth signature from an earlier Hardy Boys adventure - "While the Clock Ticked" - replacing pages 155-186 with the text of that story. Binding and hinges are fairly tight, not cracked or split. Internally, there can be a little space between signatures, but there are no loose sections pages. A closed tear on the outer edge of the frontispiece, otherwise, no tears, folded or loose pages. No writing. Board corners are nice and crisp. Pages 165-170, the upper corner of the page is slightly mis-cut. The tinting on the top edge of the text block is relatively uniform, a few very light, small scuffs. Paper on front and back boards is smooth and uniform. One small dent in the bottom edge of the front board. Matching dust jacket shows losses at spine head and tail. Some light edge wear elsewhere, with light chipping at flap fold corners. Front and back designs still bright. Now protected in a removable archival sleeve. See images for complete condition details. Will ship promptly, carefully packaged. Using Carpentieri's guide, I am able to identify this copy as what he labels a "1946A-28", meaning it is the first printing of 1946 and the 28th overall printing of the title. The first printing was in 1927. This edition features the original 25 chapter text and second generation cover artwork.

The Motion Picture Chums War Spectacle 1916 First edition Last book of the series Extremely scarce title Antique children’s series book
First edition, identified by the copyright page lists and also series books lists in the back of the book. Solid binding, no writing or marks aside from a name carefully penciled on the front free end paper. No torn, folded or loose pages. Board corners are bumped, more so on the bottoms, some minimal wear to the cloth on the corner tips, not worn through. Spine head and tail bumped, but cloth is not frayed. The cloth wrapping is a little rippled on the front board above the title, and their is a triangular section on the upper portion of the back board where it is floating from the underlying board. Lower corner of back board has what looks to be remnants of the dust jacket adhered to it. Not quite perfect, but still very pleasing copy of a rather scarce final title in this early Stratemeyer Syndicate series. See accompanying images for full condition details. Will make for a great gift for that special collector or perhaps an upgrade for your collection! Will ship promptly, carefully packaged, fully insured.
