This is a “very good -” or better antique hardcover in pictorial cloth wrapped boards with black-and-white illustrated semi-glossy frontispiece published by Grosset & Dunlap in 1916.
First edition, identified by the copyright page lists and also series books lists in the back of the book.
Solid binding, no writing or marks aside from a brief numeric annotation carefully penned on the front free end paper.
No torn, folded or loose pages. Board corners are mildly bumped, more so on the back upper. Cloth at corner tips is worn, through on back upper and lightly so on front lower. Spine head and tail bumped, but cloth is not frayed. Page 166 lower corner accidentally turned, otherwise no folded, torn or loose pages. All black and white illustrations are present. Text block edges show uniform tanning all around, close flat and square. Cloth wrapping fairly uniform front, back and spine, no significant tanning or sunning
Not quite perfect, but still very pleasing copy in this early Stratemeyer Syndicate series.

Hardy Boys #16 “A Figure in Hiding” [1948] This is the 1948a-15 printing as per Carpentieri & Mular
Binding and hinges are crisp. The black tinting at the text block head somewhat sunned at outer edge. The board corners are fairly crisp with the front upper lightly worn. Front board decoration and spine titling is crisp and complete. Text block closes tightly. Spine head and tail edges lightly bumped. An X-mass inscription is penciled on front free end paper and a name on back one, other wise no writing. A handful of page corners are creased. Matching dust jacket shows heavy wear with large loss at the tail of the spine. Also some loss along the bottom back and at the flap folds. Will arrive in a removable archival sleeve. First edition, identified by the copyright page lists and also series books lists in the back of the book. Solid binding, no writing or marks aside from a name carefully penciled on the front free end paper. No torn, folded or loose pages. Board corners are bumped, more so on the bottoms, some minimal wear to the cloth on the corner tips, not worn through. Spine head and tail bumped, but cloth is not frayed. The cloth wrapping is a little rippled on the front board above the title, and their is a triangular section on the upper portion of the back board where it is floating from the underlying board. Lower corner of back board has what looks to be remnants of the dust jacket adhered to it. Not quite perfect, but still very pleasing copy of a rather scarce final title in this early Stratemeyer Syndicate series. See accompanying images for full condition details.
