Large 10 x 11″ hardcover with brown paper boards over a tan cloth spine, heavy semi-glossy pages, 45 pages.
This is a “very good” vintage book with with the only flaw to speak of being the tale of the spine is bumped.
The vintage dust jacket shows the original publisher’s price of 7.95 sterling inside the front flap. A little edge wear in places, but overall a very pleasing vintage wrapper, now protected in a removable archival sleeve.

Ms. Willard was awarded the John Newbery Medal Award for “William Blake’s Inn” and wrote more than 65 other books including the award winning Anatole trilogy. She passed away in 2017.

This is a "very good -" children's vintage hardcover , full color book. The spiral binding is intact, with the comb not crushed, some wear at the top and heel of the spine, but the pages are all tightly bound. It appears that not much saving actually occurred with this particular copy, as none of the coin or bill slots show signs of use. Inside the back cover there is a sleeve entitled "My bank book" where the owner could slide their savings book into for safe keeping. This two is "as new". Some edge wear, some tanning on edges, but overall, all of the illustrations are very bright and pleasing.
The matching original jacket has had better days, with two large losses on the front cover along with several smaller ones and the spine is quite worn. Now protected and remediated in a removable archival sleeve. Not perfect, but very few copies of this book are found with a jacket at all. A really interesting piece of childhood Americana! Will ship promptly, carefully packaged, fully insured.

This is a "very good -" children's vintage hardcover , full color book. Definite moisture exposure apparent along bottom front board and along first 3 dozen or so pages, with some light rippling to block pages. Spine head and tail edges are frayed as is lower front board corner. Aside from gift inscription neatly penned by Ms. Lathrop, and Ms. Cole's initials on FEP, no other writing. Book does show wear, but is unique in its provenance and is still quite quaint and pleasing. A very exciting item for the collector of illustrated children's books! The etching was done using a victrola needle. “Chase”, her second etching, was done in the same month. Eventually using diamond-pointed pencils, she went on to create over 250 etchings of dogs representing 26 breeds. Including private commissions, she did over 100 etchings of Scottish Terriers.
