THE STORY

The title novella follows a lone starship carrying humanity’s last hope as the “Red Tide” engulfs Earth, racing to reach Omega, a long-vanished colony planet. After four years in space the ship’s food stores are destroyed in a meteor crash, the crew edges toward mutiny, and a threatening alien ship appears bearing a strange cargo of human bodies. It is classic Laumer — hard science fiction built on survival, tension, and planetary mystery. The same taut, inventive energy runs through the three companion novellas.

THIS EDITION

COVER ART

The front cover is a dark, painterly, abstract space scene: an interwoven alien-mechanical structure suspended in a starry void, with a small, insectoid figure with glowing red eyes caught in the web of machinery. Deep blues, grays, and blacks carry white energy lines and an orange-splash accent, with the author’s name in muted coral above the bold GREYLORN title. The cover line promotes Laumer as “the author of GALACTIC ODYSSEY.”
