Ellen Glasgow “Barren Ground” First edition 1925 Vintage cloth wrapped hardcover Pulitzer Prize winnning author
First edition. The text block is solid and whole, with solid hinges and gutters, front and back. Looks to be a French (?) penciled gift inscription on the half title page, otherwise no marks. Upper text block edge somewhat dusted with a few small spots. All board corners are bumped with upper back corner with a small linear split in the wrapping cloth. Head and tail on spine bumped. Decorative spine paste down has some edge wear but still rather pleasing. Some surface scuffs and spotting on boards front and back, but not significant. No loose, torn or folded pages. Pristine antique book “Kidnapped” Robert Louis Stevenson c.1935 May be unread!
Blue pebbled glossy paper wrapped hardcover, deep red staining to all text block edges, some single color illustrations, 234 pages. This is a "near fine" vintage book with a solid, tight binding and hinges. No loose, torn or folded pages. Text block edges are bright, all but completely free of scuffs or marks. May be an unread copy. No name plate affixed or writing. There are two light linear indents on the upper outer edge of the back board. Matching vintage dust jacket shows a little edge wear in a few places, a little chipping on the lower flap fold corners, but other wise also amazingly preserved. Now in a removable archival sleeve. A really, really pleasing example of a vintage Whitman, very unusual to see one this clean. Made all the more special because of the content - one of the greatest examples of adventure fiction ever penned! Will ship promptly, carefully packaged.

First edition. The binding is tight, with intact hinges and gutters, a name and number penned inside front paste down, otherwise no marking nor tags. One page has two crescent tears on the outer edge, where it appears that the pages may not have been fully separated originally, otherwise, no torn, loose or folded pages. The upper gilt shows some rubbing. The lower board corners are mildly bumped and all show wear on the cloth at the tips, as to the spine head and heel. Still a rather pleasing vintage volume.
