This is a “very good” or better vintage hardcover with a crisp, tight binding. No writing, no loose, torn or folded pages. Spine head and tail and board corners lightly bumped. Blue paper wrapped boards fairly uniform in color, a little sunning along the upper board edges near the spine. Matching original vintage dust jacket is not clipped, showing UK publisher’s price inside the lower front flap. This jacket is “good” with some fairly large losses along edges, top and bottom. First edition (as per McBride's identification guide, since no additional printings are indicated, it is a first as per Holt's practice for the time period).
Gutters and hinges are intact, not cracked. Aside from a neatly penned gift inscription, no writing. No loose, torn or folded pages. End papers are tanned, page edges just a hint so.
The original matching dust wrapper has losses at the edges of the front board and spine edges. Tanning and scuffs evident. Original publisher's price of $1.75 inside front flap. Flap fold corners are chipped, general edge wear overall. Now protected in a removable archival sleeve.
