$34.00 Original price was: $34.00.$26.52Current price is: $26.52.
This is a “very good” vintage hardcover novel in black cloth wrapped boards, published in 1925 by Doubleday, Page and Co., red stained upper text block edge, deckled outer edge, decorated paste downs front and back, 511 pages.
First edition.
The text block is solid and whole, with solid hinges and gutters, front and back. Looks to be a French (?) penciled gift inscription on the half title page, otherwise no marks. Upper text block edge somewhat dusted with a few small spots. All board corners are bumped with upper back corner with a small linear split in the wrapping cloth. Head and tail on spine bumped. Decorative spine paste down has some edge wear but still rather pleasing. Some surface scuffs and spotting on boards front and back, but not significant. No loose, torn or folded pages.

Japanese Flower Arrangement [Ike-Bana] Applied to Western Needs 1914 Mary Averill First edition, 2nd printing Illustrated vintage hardcover
First edition, second printing, being just 3 months after the first printing, as stated on the title page verso. This book is complete, and has a solid binding, with at least two pages disconnected: the frontispiece with its protector and page 169/170. As such, those pages' outer edges are chipped. The boards show a fair amount of edge wear, with all of the corners' wrapping paper worn through to the underlying boards. There is no writing, no folded pages, the text block closes tightly and is square. This book will need to be handled carefully as the pages are fairly brittle with age. There is a decorative ex-libris book plated affixed to the front pastedown and a diminutive bookseller label on the lower edge of the back pastedown - "Brentano's Booksellers and Stationers New York" - which is fun. Fair amount of wear on the head and tail of the spine cloth, gilt lettering on the spine is fairly crisp and complete. Not a perfect book, but still very charming and content is not impacted. See accompanying images for further condition details. Will ship promptly, carefully packaged.
