This is the text block of an antique history book with complete text.
Block closes tightly, no loose pages. First four pages have their upper corner with losses, otherwise no torn or folded pages (except maps which are supposed to be). No writing. Includes approximately 2 dozen black and white engraved (?) illustrations detailing such things as abbeys and castles.
Really interesting volume. Rather scarce, even in this condition.

The binding and hinges are intact. The text block is complete, no loose, torn or folded pages. No writing. Text block closes tightly. Board corners are heavily bumped and worn. The leather on the spine itself is worn away with under lament visible. Gilt upper edge is bright, relatively unworn. Pages and maps inside are bright and colorful. The first and last pages were beginning to separate along the spine edge perf due to the stiff stock and the movement of the book. The perfs of both have been reinforced with PH neutral, archival document repair tape (see images), which is intended for such purposes and will not harm the paper, nearly invisible. Some surface rubbing on glossy board covers, front and back, some edge wear. No jams, tears or creasing. A fairly scarce title these days - likely few were printed, and most of those were disassembled to use the cards.
