Garry Trudeau “A Doonesbury Special” Signed First edition hardcover in original jacket
$82.00
"A Doonesbury Special - A Director's Notebook", by Garry Trudeau, published by Sheed, Andrews & McMeel inc in 1978.
Signed association copy, first edition.
This large format illustrated cloth bound hardcover with original dust jacket chronicling the creation of the television special of the same name, is inscribed "For Richard Killberg with gratitude from Garry Trudeau, March 16, 1978" and also signed by the producer Faith Hubley (see images).
This is a "very good" vintage book covered in white cloth with gold embossing on the cover and spine. The embossing is bright and clear, not rubbed or faded. The board corners are sharp, not worn or bumped, the spine head and heel are minimally bumped. There is light tanning to the board edges around, and two small, approximately dime sized light spots on the back board edges, one at top and one at the bottom. The top one does not reach the interior, the lower one has a brown spot on the inner edge. None of the pages are loose, torn or folded and there is no writing aside from the mentioned inscription. The book is solid with tight hinges. The text block edges are somewhat tanned.
Richard Killberg was a director and producer, and he may have either had an uncredited role in the creation of the television special or Mr. Trudeau and Ms. Hubley owed him thanks for some previous assistance.
The original dust jacket, now securely protected in a removable archival mylar sleeve is not price clipped, showing the original publisher's price of $12.95 inside the front flap. The back has a couple of 1 1/2" - 2" closed tears at the top edge with some accompanying creasing and little loss on one. No writing, some general edge wear and light tanning to white background. Not a perfect cover, but still very pleasant and presentable.

Dashiell Hammett “The Maltese Falcon” February 1945 vintage Pocket paperback in dust jacket
CONDITION:
Book: Good plus with a solid binding, no torn, folded or loose pages, no writing. Has some fairly heavy creasing about mid-way down the spine, book closes flat, tinted block edges show some sunning. Inside front and back covers, there is the remnants of where the dust jacket had originally be glued to the book - I do not know if the publisher did that or if an overzealous owner did. Artwork on the covers is bright. Jacket: Acceptable to good condition, large loss along the middle of the spine, chipping at spine head, no writing, creased with some chipping along front bottom edge. Backside of flaps show the reverse of the glue action mentioned in book description. Now carefully protected in an archival sleeve. See accompanying images for full condition details. Not a perfect copy, but still very specials considering this was the books first appearance in paperback form and the original dust wrapper is still present. ABOUT: Fourth printing of this edition. Published by Pocket Books in February of 1945. Will ship promptly, carefully packaged.
