Hudson Valley Victorian era hospital 13×19″ or 17×22″ poster
$12.00 – $17.00Price range: $12.00 through $17.00
Gothic wall art steampunk poster, “Asylum Doorway”, made-to-order wall hanging.
In 1871, New York State opened the “Hudson River Hospital for the Insane” in Dutchess County, on the East banks of the Hudson River, just below what is know known as Hyde Park.
It was the second institution of it’s kind in the state, being created since the original hospital in Utica, New York, was full.
The High Victorian Gothic architecture was the first time it was used in an institutional facility. The building, although in a state of significant disrepair, is now on the National Historic Register.
I took this photograph in 2007, intrigued by how the door had been “retrofitted” with a “modern” portal and the ominous “asbestos” warning.
Will make an evocative addition to your living space’s decor.
Available in 2 sizes: 13 x 19″ 17 x 22″

King Kong at Yosemite’s Half-dome [1936] print / poster –multiple sizes–
Background of this amazing image: What many people don't know, believing what they saw in the one movie that Kong starred in, is that the US government actually cut a deal with Kong, and put him the Federal Witness Protection Program. The ape we saw fall, apparently shot up by the biplanes, from the Empire State Building in 1933, was actually a stuffed dummy. The real Kong was hiding inside the building, and once the police had cleared the streets, he was secreted to a train and transported to the great western wilderness of Yosemite and around. For a handful of years, on occasion, as is documented in this photochrome, he would be seen by a tourist or two, typically very briefly and in most instances, he would disappear before the startled visitor could get their cameras set up for a shot. In any case, in our investigation of this rare phenomenon, we could not find evidence of any sightings later than 1939, so we have to assume that either Kong passed quietly or he became frustrated with the increasing number of visitors to Yosemite and retreated to spend the remainder of his days pining for the peaks of Skull Island in quieter environs. This one-of-a-kind Kong print will look great in your living space and make for scintillating conversation! Custom printed when you place your order; sorry, no returns or exchanges accepted on custom prints. 8 x 10" ships in a stiff flat, larger sizes in a sturdy kraft tube.
