A “very good” vintage hardcover in a matching “good plus” original dust wrapper published by Grosset and Dunlap in 1959.
Binding and hinges are crisp, with no writing or marks. The black tinting at the text block head has a little spotting, but fairly uniform with a little sunning at the spine. Upper board corners are crisp, lowers just slightly bumped. Front board decoration and spine titling is crisp and complete. Text block closes tightly. Spine head and tail edges lightly bumped.
Matching dust jacket has edge wear all around with the spine lightly sunned and some chipping at head and tail. Will arrive in a removable archival sleeve.
Will ship promptly, carefully packaged.
Using Carpentieri’s guide, I am able to identify this copy as what he labels a “1959C-31”, meaning it is the third printing of 1959 and the 31st printing of the book. The first printing was in 1942. This edition still features the original first edition cover artwork.
