This is a "very good -" green cloth wrapped antique hardcover published in 1898 by Doubleday, 431 pages with 8 glossy black and white plates and a vellum or rice paper protector on the frontispiece. Deckled edges on outer and lower edge, upper edge gilt.
First edition. The binding is tight, with intact hinges and gutters, a name and number penned inside front paste down, otherwise no marking nor tags. One page has two crescent tears on the outer edge, where it appears that the pages may not have been fully separated originally, otherwise, no torn, loose or folded pages. The upper gilt shows some rubbing. The lower board corners are mildly bumped and all show wear on the cloth at the tips, as to the spine head and heel. Still a rather pleasing vintage volume. The Brothers are well regarded fantasy and science fiction illustrators, having completed commissions for such works as:

>> The Sword of Shannara
>> The Lord of the Rings
>> The original Clash of the Titans
>> The Brothers also worked with Stan Lee and created art for Marvel Comics

The book is #61 of only 100 that were signed by both brothers - I have found no others available anywhere! (Tim died in June of 2006).
This large soft cover book is in very good plus or better condition, with the staples and center page solid.
The glossy covers retain most of their original sheen, with just perhaps the slightest bit of creasing in a few places. There are a few impressions in the surface here or there, where something got pressed against the cover, but not significant, really only visible when held up to the light in the right angle. No tears, chips or losses to the covers.
The interior is free of writing or marks - aside from the Brothers' signatures on the title page - and none of the pages are torn or creased or folded.
This title is 48 pages plus the covers and includes many black and white representations of their work along with color, including:
