This is a “very good” to “near mint” vintage hardcover with black paper wrapped boards, black cloth wrapped spine, and cloth head and tail bands sewn into spine. Published by Barnes and Nobles in 1997, 331 pages.
First edition.
Book is solid, text block closes tightly and square, edge bright and clean all around. The title page has a vertical crease and the lower corner is mildly creased, otherwise no loose, torn or folded pages. No writing or plates. Board corners are all sharp.
The matching DJ is not clipped, no tags, labels or marks. No tears. Very uniform in color all around, not tanned or sunned. Certainly a much better than typical jacket. Available with optional removable archival cover for the jacket.

Spy Catchers 31 Stories by Bernard Newman 1945 Vintage hardcover from Dark Harbor Maine
First edition. Binding is tight, no loose, torn or folded pages. There is a Public Library book plate affixed inside the front paste down dated January 1946, library being the Public Library of Dark Harbor, Maine. Opposite, on the front free end paper is a blue color pencil gift inscription marked from London and dated june 1945, otherwise no marks. Board corners are lightly bumped, with some wear at tips on cloth. Spine head and tail are bumped, edges sunned. Blue cloth boards are relatively even. The matching dust wrapper is not clipped. Fairly well tanned on front and spine, back less so. Circular loss at mid-section of back board flap fold and at spine head and tail. No significant tears or writing. Looks like possible ghost of a removed label on front board upper outer corner. Fun vintage, war-era espionage stories! Scarce title. See accompanying images for full condition details. This is a "very good" vintage hardcover book with a solid spine and tight hinges. No writing, no loose, torn or folded pages. The text block is square and closes tightly, a little dusted at the top edge. Upper text block edges show some slight foxing. A group of about 12 pages have slightly crimped upper corner tips, likely from being bumped while being shelved. Lower board corners bumped, uppers are crisp. Board edges show perhaps the slightest hint of sunning to the black paper. White cloth on the spine even. The original vintage dust jacket is "very good", no tears or writing.
