1891 Scientific American Print: Victorian Cottage, Chicago Architecture
$91.00
Authentic antique lithograph, not a reproduction, in excellent vintage condition.
A few closed tears along edges, a few repaired with tape (repaired on back with whatever kind of tape was available in the 1890s – not Scotch), some chips and spotting; no writing, folds or significant creases.
Please see images for complete condition details (the item in the images is the one that will be shipped).
This plate has been salvaged from a 130 year old bound volume of several issues of the magazine Scientific American, Architects and Builders edition. At that time, instead of reprinting the pages of the magazines as a book, they actually took the magazines themselves and bound them. This book had been heavily damaged over the years, but the wonderful plates were mostly able to be saved.
These plates have become quite scarce over the decades, this could be your only chance to acquire one.
Last image in listing shows how entire page with margins is laid out.
