Vintage Modern Library Faux leather dressed book “A Night in the Luxembourg” 1926 First edition Remy de Gourmont
$28.00
“A Night in the Luxembourg” by Remy de Gormount, published by the Modern Library in 1926.
First edition thus.
Sextodecimo in soft green faux leather boards, decorated end papers, gilt decoration on the front board, 215 pages including appendixes.
This is a “good” or better vintage book with an intact but weakened binding, the gutters are not split, but you can feel a little “give”. No loose, torn or folded pages. No writing. Some surface wear, some light creasing in the leather on front and back. Board corners are worn at the ends, with the front lower corner jammed with the leather and inside past down separated at about 1/2″. The board wrap is split at the bottom of the spine and along the front lower edge for about 2 1/2″.
Showing a little wear, but still a nice, pleasant, almost antique volume!

The Old Gentleman of the Black Stock 1901 First edition thus Thomas Nelson Page Decorated pretty book
This is a "very good -" or better antique book. The spine is solid, albeit cocked, the hinges are tight and strong. There is a name dated 1901 quilled with flourish on front end paper. There is a dark "L" shaped stain on the lower front cover, seems like it might be ink, and there three spots where there was apparent moisture exposure to the cloth on the spine. No loose page, no folded or torn pages. The gilt at the text block head is wonderful - the picture(s) do not do it justice. It is very bright and shiny, not rubbed. See accompanying photos for full condition details. Will ship to you carefully packaged.

Vintage “The Master of Ballantrae” Book by Robert Louis Stevenson, c1900
8vo green cloth wrapped hardcover with white chalked lettering on the front board, cloth head and tail band in binding, unadorned end pages, eggshell paper, 310 pages. This is a "very good" antique book with a tight binding and crisp board hinges. There are no loose, torn or folded pages. There is numerical pencil inscription inside the rear paste-down, likely a bookstore inventory code, otherwise no writing. The text block edges are relatively uniform in color all around, with the top edge being somewhat dusted. The front lower board corner is fairly well bumped, with the other three being less so. All corner tips show some wear to the cloth at the tips but not worn through. The spine head and heel are bumped and have some edge wear, but again not worn through. The chalk lettering on the front board is complete, but does reflect some rubbing as is typical of this delicate method of decoration. There is a stray mark on the cover that appears to be chalk. The lettering on the spine is just about completely rubbed away. A pleasing vintage tome. Contains a one page preface addressed to Sir Percy Florence and Lady Shelley from Waikiki, dated May 17, 1889. Will ship promptly, carefully packaged.
